Rakestraw named SSC Offensive Player of the Week
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State University midfielder Chad Rakestraw has been selected as the Southwest Soccer Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in a pair of road games last weekend.
Rakestraw, a 5-11 senior from Denton/Ryan, scored MSU's first goal and assisted on the game-winner in the Indians 2-1 victory at West Texas A&M last Sunday in the showdown of SSC frontrunners. He also helped MSU to a 5-1 triumph at Eastern New Mexico last Friday.
The SSC Defensive Player of the Week was awarded to Incarnate Word goal keeper Kevin Langan.
Rakestraw becomes the fifth MSU to earn SSC Player of the Week honors.
Midwestern State faces two more important SSC contests this weekend as it hosts St. Mary's on Friday at 7:30 following the women's game with East Central, and a showdown on Sunday at 3 p.m. with 23rd ranked Incarnate Word.
