Odoms selected as LSC South Co-Offensive Player of the Week
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State University running back Ulysses Odoms was selected the Lone Star Conference South Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his heroics in leading MSU to a 41-14 win over then sixth ranked Texas A&M University-Kingsville last Saturday.
Odoms, a 5-8, 190 pound junior from New Orleans, La./Ehret, collected 132 yards on 12 carries, averaging 11.0 yards a run. One of those efforts was a career-long 55-yard non-scoring scamper. He also added a pair of pass receptions for 24 yards, scoring on a four-yard grab.
The yardage helped lead MSU to rolling up 577 total yards against the Javelinas, including 302 yards on the ground.
The win over A&M-Kingsville was the first for MSU since 1999 and snapped a three-game Indian losing streak. Ironically, the last time MSU had a three or more game losing skid was in 1999 and it was broken by a 10-7 win over the Hoggies.
Joining Odoms as LSC South Players of the Week are Tarleton State's Derrick Ross as co-offensive player, TSU's Renardrick Phillips and West Texas A&M's Max Stewart as co-defensive players and WT's Brian Cooper as the special teams player.
MSU is in action again on Saturday when East Central (Okla.) visits Memorial Stadium for Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
