MSU Women need double overtime for 2-1 win at SW Oklahoma

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Midwestern State University freshman Megan Bibilone scored the game-winning goal with 3:47 left in the second overtime period leading MSU to a 2-1 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State University in the final Lone Star Conference women's regular season game on Sunday.

MSU (8-8-1, 6-3) got the game winner after Lauren Sierra collected the ball in a scramble following a Kelly Tanner shot that ricocheted out.  Sierra sent the ball to Bibilone who notched her seventh goal of the season and third game winner.

The Lady Indians needed late game heroics to beat SWOSU (7-10-1, 2-6-1).

Southwestern claimed a 1-0 lead when Emily Rodawalt scored in the 68th minute.  SWOSU held onto that lead, nearly to game's end.

But in the 85th minute, Brittany Burney caught a bouncer and blasted it past SWOSU keeper Lindsey Crook to knot the game at 1-all.

MSU senior goal keeper Elli O'Dwyer chalked up six saves on the 17 Southwestern shots, while SWOSU's Crook tallied nine saves on MSU's 20 attempts.

With the victory, the MSU women secured the third seed in the LSC Tournament that begins Thursday in Edmond, Okla.  The Lady Indians meet sixth seeded Angelo State on Thursday at 12 noon, with fourth seeded Texas A&M-Commerce meeting Texas Woman's at 2:30 p.m.

The winner of the MSU/ASU contest will advance to face second-seed West Texas A&M on Friday at noon, with top seed and LSC regular season champion Central Oklahoma to take on the winner of the A&M-Commerce/TWU affair.

The LSC Championship game is set for next Sunday at 1 p.m. in Edmond.
