Lady Indians take two more at LSC Crossover
DENTON, Texas - The Midwestern State University volleyball team completed a 3-0 sweep at the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament on Saturday, with a 3-1 win over Eastern New Mexico and a 3-0 victory against Angelo State.
The wins give MSU a 20-8 record, its best since becoming a member of the LSC and NCAA Division II, and it's first 20-win season since 1995 when the Lady Indians were 26-10.
MSU downed Eastern New Mexico 30-13, 30-12, 24-30, 30-16 in the morning match, led by Kate Pence who hit .567 for the match, recording 20 kills. Krissa Johnson hit .435 against the Zias with 13 kills and three blocks, while Candice Main had 12 kills and three blocks while hitting .379.
In the afternoon contest, MSU knocked off Angelo State 30-16, 32-30, 30-28 with Pence hitting .536 with 16 kills. Main hit .333 with 10 kills and four blocks against the Rambelles.
Setter Allison Schreiber had two outstanding matches, with a total of 99 assists. She averaged 14.14 assists for the two matches.
MSU takes on Dallas Baptist in non-conference play on Tuesday in Dallas before returning to LSC North play at Cameron next Thursday night.
