19th ranked MSU rips Dallas Baptist 5-1
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The 19th ranked Midwestern State University men's soccer team collected it's sixth win of the season with a 5-1 victory against Dallas Baptist University Saturday night at the MSU Soccer Field.
MSU (6-1-1) scored early and often, collecting its first goal in the 11th minute when Mark McGlinchey scored his first goal of the year off a cross from Daniel Brown.
Brown got his second goal of the year 11 minutes later when he blasted a free kick in off a free start at the top of the box.
MSU's leading scorer, Jimmy Krueger, got in the act with a goal in the 50th minute from an assist from Brandon Swartzendruber.
MSU added to the scoring with goals from Chad Rakestraw in the 70th minute and Brown's second of the evening in the 88th minute.
Dallas Baptist got on the scoreboard in the 87th minute on a Tony Bowles goal that was unassisted.
Raul Herrera recorded 45 minutes without a save on four DBU shots in the first half. Sean Gill chalked up a save in 34 minutes in goal, while Jeremy Turner got a save and allowed a goal in the final 10:37 for the Indians.
DBU's Jonathan Callahan collected eight saves while allowing five goals and facing 37 MSU shots.
Midwestern State hits the road next weekend for a pair of important non-conference, regional games. MSU meets fifth-ranked Fort Lewis College on Friday at 5 p.m., then takes on the Colorado School of Mines next Sunday at noon.
