MSU upsets No. 17 Texas A&M-Commerce 1-0

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State University freshman Sabrina Periman's goal with 1:33 left in the second overtime led MSU to a 1-0 upset of 17th ranked Texas A&M University-Commerce in Lone Star Conference women's soccer action Wednesday.

Periman got the ball near the top of the18-yard box after a corner kick by MSU bounded around the box.  Her shot got over the top of the crowd in front of the goal and off the left post to settle in the net for the only score of the game in the LSC opener.

MSU, now 2-4-1 on the season, played in its third double overtime game of the year with a 1-1-1 outcome.  All seven games this season have been decided by one goal, with the last six decided in the last five minutes of regulation or overtime.

A&M-Commerce (5-2-0, 0-1 LSC) outshot MSU 18-8 for the game until the last three minutes of the second overtime.  That's when MSU forced action deep and outshot the Lions 4-0.

Senior goal keeper Elli O'Dwyer was perfect over the 108-plus minutes, with nine saves while facing the 18 shots.  A&M-C's Amber Ramoz chalked up three saves before allowing the game-winner as she faced 12 MSU attempts.

Midwestern State takes the weekend off before resuming LSC action next Wednesday when Texas Woman's comes to town for a 7 p.m. contest at the MSU Soccer Field.
