MSU downs Dallas Baptist 3-0
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Midwestern State University volleyball team tied the mark for it's most ever wins in a season since joining NCAA Division II with a 30-22, 30-21, 30-23 victory over Dallas Baptist Tuesday night at Gerald Stockton Court/D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
MSU ran it's record to 14-5 overall with the non-conference win, tying the 1996 and 2003 teams that won 14 games.
Dallas Baptist fell to 5-15 with the loss.
MSU never allowed DBU to get on track during the first two games, winning the contests with relative ease.
But in game three, Dallas Baptist gained an upper-hand on the Lady Indians, taking the lead twice midway through the game. However, MSU ended the DBU run with three straight points from the serve of Ashley Godwin and three more from Rachel Gilmore that put the Lady Patriots away.
MSU was paced by the play of Candice Main who hit .444 for the match with 13 kills and eight blocks, five of them solos. Gilmore hit .318 with 10 kills and four blocks.
Allison Schreiber recorded 41 assists with seven digs and three blocks as MSU tallied 12 team blocks on the night.
MSU returns to Lone Star Conference North play on Thursday night with a trip to Durant, Okla., to face Southeastern Oklahoma State. SOSU is one of the surprise leaders of the LSC North, 2-0 in the division and 10-9 on the season.
