Cross Country finishes sixth in Oklahoma
SHAWNEE, Okla. - The Midwestern State University women's cross country team finished sixth among 12 teams at the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison Invitational Saturday morning.
The MSU women posted a score of 128 in the meet, beating fellow Lone Star Conference members East Central (Okla.), Southwestern Oklahoma State and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma Christian won the meet with a score of 62, edging Central Oklahoma's 67. Dallas Baptist, Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene finished third through fifth.
Senior Anna Crockett of Wichita Falls/Rider led the first-year MSU squad, finishing fifth individually with a time of 19:23.03 and Tiffany Stewart placed 11th at 19:52.45.
Southwestern Oklahoma State's Rachel Ingram won the individual title in 18:32.41.
MSU also got strong performances by Mindy Burns, who was 29th in 21:07.30, Mariah Cano, who was 33rd in 21:14.85 and Natalie Noblitt who was 53rd in 22:35.26.
Mindy Briones was 58th in 23:04.97, Katy Blackwood 64th in 23:59.80 and Ashley Mense was clocked in 34:23.36.
The squad will run again on Oct. 7 in the Tarleton State Invitational in Stephenville.
