Central Oklahoma downs MSU 3-1
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Midwestern State University volleyball team opened Lone Star Conference North Division play on a down note Thursday night as they fell to the University of Central Oklahoma in four games, 30-28, 26-30, 30-18, 30-15.
The match was played at City View High School because of electrical problems on the MSU campus on Thursday.
MSU (12-5, 0-1) battled UCO (11-6, 1-0) to a pair of close contests in the first two games of the match. Then the Bronchos took game three by hitting .422 for the game, while MSU managed to hit .214. UCO grabbed the final game with a strong start and never looked back.
MSU was paced Candice Main who hit .333 for the match with 14 kills and six blocks. Shay Velasquez added 12 kills and Rachel Gilmore 10. Allison Schreiber collected 49 assists.
UCO got 21 kills each from Kim Morgal and Katie Schult. Morgal led UCO by hitting .444 for the match. Stephanie Ball recorded 61 assists.
MSU will return to D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Saturday to host Cameron in a 2 p.m. match.
