MSU purchases two properties
The Midwestern State University Board of Regents approved the purchase of two properties adjacent to the MSU campus on Monday, including 2510 Hampstead Lane and 2518 Hampstead Lane.
MSU made offers on the properties a couple of weeks ago contingent on the Board's approval with final approval being made by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Funding for the purchases will come from the Land Proceeds Fund. Several years ago MSU sold the acreage next to the Family YMCA for approximately $1 million. The money was set aside for purchasing additional land needed for expansion.
The property at 2518 Hampstead Lane may be used as guest housing for visiting professors and/or speakers. The home at 2510 Hampstead Lane may possibly be used as family housing.
"Whatever we decide, we are not going to do anything the neighbors are not happy about," stated Mac Cannedy, chairman of the board of regents.
