MSU to host conference cycling this weekend
The Midwestern State University Cycling Team will host the South Central Collegiate Cycling Championships this weekend. Saturday, April 9, and Sunday, April 10.
MSU team is hoping to win the conference title for fifth year in a row and seven out of last eight years
Riders will compete in three different events. Races for different ability levels begin at 7:30 a.m. with the Category A men, who will race for 77 miles around a 7.7-mile loop. Racing will run until approximately noon. The start-finish line is on Hatton Road, just north of Old Windthorst Road.
Teams of up to four riders from each school will compete against the clock on a 20 kilometer (12.4 mile) course that begins just past the northeast edge of Wichita Falls.
The first team will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday and the others will follow at two minute intervals.
Racers will conclude the weekend with races around a closed loop on the Midwestern State campus. The first race begins at 8 a.m.
The top women's category races at 9:45 a.m. and the top men's category begins at 11 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to attend.
