Arthur F. Beyer Distinguished Alumnus

 

Mr. Daniel Burch Patrick received his Master of Science in biology from Midwestern State University in 1987. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife biology from Colorado State University. Patrick is a biology teacher at Wichita Falls High School.    He is a very dedicated, award-winning educator, quality citizen and community leader.  Many of Patrick's former students have gone on to attend MSU and each of these students possesses a solid academic foundation and is motivated to obtain their degree.  He has served on numerous boards including River Bend Nature Works committee, Save the Rainforest Inc., Rotary Club, and is the advisor to the Environmental Club at WFHS.  Patrick has been awarded the West Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence and has also received both Wichita Falls ISD and Region IX Teacher of the Year awards.  

 

College of Business Administration -

Judge Roger Towery received his bachelor of science in economics from Midwestern State University in 1970 and his doctorate of jurisprudence from University of Texas School of Law in 1973.  Judge Towery is a U.S. district judge and resides in Henrietta, Texas.  He has been with the 97 th District Court since 1990 and is a life member of the Texas Bar Foundation.  He was a former Wichita County district attorney and was a partner in several different laws firms.  Judge Towery has been very active with the State Bar of Texas and is past president of the Tri-County Bar Association.  He is also a past president of both the Henrietta and Clay County Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club of Henrietta.  

 

College of Health and Human Services

Mr. Jeffrey B. Killion earned his Bachelor of Science in radiologic science in 1992 and his Master of Science in radiologic science in 1998, both from Midwestern State University. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in health studies at Texas Woman's University and is an assistant professor of radiologic science at MSU. Killion is very active in both university committees and professional organizations. He has made a name for himself as a great speaker throughout the country and is much in demand for national and state meetings. He has been awarded numerous grants, is on countless committees and has received many awards. Killion loves all outside activities and, while in college, was on the MSU tennis team.

 

 

College of Liberal Arts

Dr. Tai D. Kreidler received his Bachelor's and Master's of Arts in history from MSU in 1977 and 1983 respectively.  He received his doctor or philosophy from Texas Tech University. He is department head of the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library at Texas Tech University. Kreidler has many publications and awards, including his forthcoming book on the petroleum industry in Texas.  He is a member of numerous professional organizations and has received several scholarships and grants. Kreidler is proud to tell his associates of the fine education he received at MSU and has greatly added to the state awareness of Midwestern State. He is a prominent figure in the field of Texas history.

 

College of Science and Mathematics

Dr. John Thomas Baccus received his Bachelor of Science in biology from MSU in 1966 and his Master of Science in biology with a major in vertebrate zoology in 1968. He received his Ph.D. from the University of North Texas with a major in vertebrate ecology and minors in aquatic ecology and evolutionary genetics. Baccus is currently the associate chair of the department of biology at Texas State University. He has distinguished himself as an excellent biologist and is well-known throughout the southwest. He has spoken at commencement ceremonies, is an honorary lifetime member of the Texas chapter of the wildlife society and is listed in the Who's Who Environmental Registry. Baccus has published a brilliant array of papers and reports and has been awarded grants and contracts in excess of 1 million.

 

Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts

Mr. Roy R. Hudson obtained his Bachelor of Science in education from Midwestern State University in 1974.  He received a Master of Fine Arts in theatre from Trinity University and also a Master of Arts in education from University of Alabama at Birmingham. Hudson is currently an instructor and head of the Theatre program for Shades Valley High School in Birmingham. He also operates Roy R. Hudson Productions which is a free-lance design, production and directing company specializing in work for commercials, displays, films, sporting events, television theatre and video. Hudson was awarded the Outstanding Production in Alabama in 2004 and also selected to perform at the International Thespian Festival Main Stage in 2003 and 2004. He has numerous other awards and accomplishments including several outstanding educator and teacher of the year awards.  

 

West College of Education

Dr. Cathy Bryce earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Midwestern   State   University in 1975. Two years later she earned her Master of Education degree from Southwestern   Oklahoma   State   University and went on to earn her Mid-Management Certification in 1985, and her doctorate in 1991, both from the University of North Texas .   Bryce started her career in 1975 as a choir director and English teacher in Arapaho, Okla.   and later taught in the Birdville ISD. In 1987 she moved into school administration serving as vice principal and principal in the Lewisville ISD, director and later assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for the Carroll ISD, and assistant superintendent and deputy superintendent in the Duncanville ISD. She served as superintendent of schools for Weatherford ISD from 1997 until she became superintendent of schools for Highland Park ISD in July of 2001.
