Ten Midwestern State University students are studying in Pontlevoy, France this semes

This is the third semester for the program where students take core courses taught in a renovated 1,000 year-old abbey. This semester's group includes Amber Beckham, Lindsay Clark, Emily Deatrich, Jenifer Hibbs, Shea Holder, James Clayton Lane, Kendra Luig, Emily Novak, Ramey Rice and Kathryn Ward.In addition to traditional courses, the students take a number of side trips to visit with people and learn about their culture. All students are urged to participate in community based learning that includes tutoring local school children in English for short periods or a variety of other exchange opportunities. The study abroad program in France is one of several programs offered through Midwestern State University that offers students the opportunity to study in a foreign setting. However, this is the only program offered during a regular semester. Other programs include Mexico, Madrid, Costa Rica, and the British Studies program that has taken students to London for 19 years. Only three percent of American students get the opportunity to study abroad. The students will return from their 13-week trip on May 7. 3/26/04
