His presentation is the fourth in the Artist Lecture Series for the year and will take place in Akin Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Raised in Miami, Scott's largely segregated education provided little access to resources, but his own determination combined with the dedication of his teachers set him on an inspiring path of achievement. In 1992, Scott began an accomplished career with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. His work in space is now regarded as a case study in leadership and expert communication, qualities most clearly exhibited in the much-publicized manual capture of the Spartan satellite in the 1997 Columbia mission. At the lecture podium, Scott takes audiences on a journey to places few people will ever see Tickets to the event are available by calling (940) 397-4291.
