The scholarships will be known as Kemp Center for the Arts Outstanding Artist Scholarships. Although preference will be shown to graduates of Wichita County high schools, the scholarships will be made available to students from the surrounding communities of Wichita Falls and Oklahoma. Recipients must be beginning freshmen or students enrolling at MSU for the first time. "These generous scholarships will help us to recruit outstanding talent from the Texoma area and to maintain excellence in our fine arts programs," stated Dr. Ron Fischli, dean of the Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts. "We pledge to do all we can to deserve this tangible show of support from the Kemp Center by nurturing young artists who have the ability and drive to sustain the arts in our culture." Criteria and application details will be established at a later date with the first scholarships awarded for fall 2003.
