. The President's Medal of Excellence winners received their medals from President Jesse W. Rogers. From the College of Business Administration, two students graduated summa cum laude. They include Mary Laverne Barrett, a finance major, and Vashti Amanda Patrick, a business computer information systems major. Barbara Lynn Hale Couch, an education major specializing in early childhood education from the Gordon T. and Ellen West College of Education, graduated summa cum laude. Two music majors from the Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts, Akiko Kanda and Carla Deann Wright, graduated magna cum laude. Joan Jeary Pruitt, a health fitness management major in the College of Health Sciences and Human Services, graduated summa cum laude. Lisa Ayanna Belfon, an international studies major, and Ashley Marie Burson, a sociology/psychology major, both from the College of Liberal Arts, graduated summa cum laude. Julie Clifton Wicker, an environmental science major in the College of Science and Mathematics, graduated summa cum laude. Summa cum laude graduates must have a minimum of a 3.9 grade point average and magna cum laude graduates must have a 3.7-3.89 grade point average.
