General
Midwestern State University's fall enrollment has set a new standard.
Official figures released September 19 set the mark at 6,235 students. This is a 3.9 percent increase over the same time period last year. Enrollment has been increasing each fall semester since 1999, however, this is the largest percentage increase since that time. The increase is spread consistently throughout the different classifications with no one single class showing a dramatic increase. This is reflective of retention efforts which have been a focus of the university during the past few years. Total semester credit hours are up 2.6 percent. These are the figures which will be used to determine state funding levels for academic years 2004-2005. The current base funding period began with the summer I session and will continue through the spring 2003 term.
