Gift Honors Fain Family Legacy, Establishes Professorship

Endowed Professorship Established for Fain College of Fine Arts

At MSU Texas, the Fain family name is synonymous with the fine arts and excellence in teaching and learning. The family's continued commitment and support to Midwestern State University was recently recognized as the Board of Regents accepted a gift for the creation of The Fain Professorship in the Fine Arts in honor of the Lamar D. Fain family.

The leadership gift from The Fain Foundation will establish a permanent endowment, positioning MSU Texas to attract and retain top faculty talent to the University's Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts.

"The incredible generosity of the Fain family through the years has transformed many lives," said President Suzanne Shipley. "The significance of this professorship will continue to grow as the scholars who hold the chair inspire our students and make their own mark within their discipline."

This professorship will recognize an individual within the Fain College who is able to articulate and execute an artistic and educational project of significant stature and reach. The named professor's creative work will advance the arts in his/her particular area, bringing concrete benefits to the students, the programs, and the Wichita Falls community.

"This gift provides the momentum for us to continue our path toward excellence in the arts and will allow us to crystallize many of the faculty's plans for the benefit of our students and programs," said Dr. Martin Camacho, Dean of the Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts.

The endowment will provide funding for items such as a salary stipend, fringe benefits, supplies and equipment, research, and travel for the named professor.

As part of the Campaign for MSU Texas, the leadership gift from The Fain Foundation is the first endowed professorship of the campaign and directly correlates to its three pillars: enriching lives, enhancing teaching and learning, and investing in the campus and community.
