Golf adds Perry, Uhles

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State golf coach Jeff Ray announced the signing of Brett Perry and Michael Uhles to National Letters of Intent Monday afternoon to play golf for the Mustangs this fall.

Perry completed a stellar prep career at Edgewood (Texas) High School this spring as he helped the Bulldogs to consecutive Class 2A as a junior and senior in 2005 and 2006.

"Brett is a very good athlete," Ray said. "When he starts playing golf year round, he will just get better. Playing on two state championship teams is very impressive. He will compete very well as a freshman."

Perry claimed district championships three times in his high school career before earning the most valuable player award on this season's squad.

As a two-sport star, he also garnered first-team all-district honors on the hardwood as Edgewood claimed a district championship last season.

Perry was also a Wendy's High School Heisman and a Dale Hansen Scholar Athlete of the Week nominee while earning Academic All-State honors in basketball in 2007.

Uhles makes the move to Midwestern from Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas.

"Paschal is one of the best high school programs in the state," Ray said. "Michael had a great state tournament shooting a 74 and a 72. He is a great worker and an even better student."

The Panthers placed second in the Class 5A state tournament this spring.

Midwestern State, which was an NCAA Division II Super Regional qualifier in 2007, will begin its second golf season this fall.
