SAN ANGELO, Texas - - The Midwestern State softball team lost its second and final game in the 2007 NCAA South Central Regional, falling to Angelo State, 6-0, on a Kari Galm two hit shut out.

            "It was a great year and a great season" said Mustangs Coach Brady Tigert. "Many people thought this was a rebuilding year for us after what we lost last year."

Angelo State (48-11) broke open the scoreless game in the top of the third on a Whitney Meeks RBI Single. The Rambelles added a second run on a suicide squeeze by Brittney Cargill, then, walked in a run to make it 3-0. Angelo State would then add three more runs in the top of the sixth to build a commanding 6-0 lead, and would never look back.

MSU (44-16) threaten in the bottom of the sixth, when they had bases loaded and one out, but Galm got Midwestern to ground into an inning ending double play.

            The Mustangs received a solid day at the plate from seniors Kelli Shaw (1-3) and Amanda Hill (1-2).

            MSU also received a good game off the mound from Ashley Kuchenski and Katie Petersen. Kuchenski allowed four hits and three runs, and struck out three, as her record fell to 19-4. Petersen pitched four and a third innings, allowing six hits, three runs, and striking out three.

            The Mustangs finish the season 44-16.
