Mustangs finish sixth at NCAA II Super Regional

            MSU saw Cameron, Abilene Christian, Central Oklahoma and St. Edward's all post even-par rounds or better as teams during the tournament's last round.

            The Mustangs posted an 898, placing sixth a stroke ahead of St. Mary's 899 in seventh and one stroke behind Northeastern State's 897 in fifth.

            Cameron held on to their second round lead to win the South Central Region with an 872, holding off Abilene Christian who posted a region's best 281 on Wednesday to get into the NCAA Division II Championship with an 881.

            Central Oklahoma and St. Edward's tied for third at 883.

\           MSU was paced by the even-par round of Gordon Quebodeuax who carded four birdies in his round, but suffered two bogies and a double-bogey.  Quebodeaux tied for 14th with a 223 total.

            Brady Jones posted a two-over par 74 in the final round to tied for 17th at 226.

            Eric Thompson and Hunter Linscombe were two of the three-way tie for 23rd at 228.  Thompson posted a final round 77, while Linscombe had the throw out score of 78 on Wednesday.  Andrew Ludlow fired a solid three-over 75 in the final round to tie for 35th with a 233.

            Individually, Central Oklahoma's Mitch Boles was the regional medalist, totaling seven-under 209, while Abilene Christian's Hugues Joannes fired a six-under 66 on Wednesday to finish a stroke back at six-under 210.

            In the South Region, host North Alabama was the team winner with an 859, while Florida Southern and Barry (Fla.) tied for second a 877.  Florida Gulf Coast was fourth at 880.

            Those four teams along with Cameron and ACU earned spots in the National Championship, while Boles was the individual advancing from the Super Regional.
