No. 22 East Central edges No. 26 MSU 5-4

            WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The 26th ranked Midwestern State University women's tennis team dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to 22nd ranked East Central University in Lone Star Conference play Thursday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.

            ECU (16-5, 6-2) beat MSU (15-7, 4-4) in two of the three doubles matches before the Mustangs split the single play 3-all.

            MSU picked up three of its four wins from Collean Kinser and Michelle Watson.  The duo combined to win number three singles 8-4 over Katrine Christensen and Erin Miller.  In singles play, Kinser downed ECU's Ana Fernandez at number four 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, and Watson ripped the Tigers Alyssa O'Neal 6-0, 6-0.

            Melissa do Prazeres-Silva got MSU's other win at number five singles with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Christensen.

            The big weekend of tennis continues at the MSU Tennis Center.  Friday the Mustangs host Incarnate Word in men's and women's action beginning at 12 noon.  Then on Saturday, MSU meets St. Edward's in men's and women's play starting at 10 a.m.
