No. 13 Northeastern State blitzes No. 26 MSU

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The 13th ranked Northeastern State University Lady Reds claimed the only five games completed to down the 26th ranked Midwestern State University Mustangs 5-0 in Lone Star Conference women's tennis action on Friday at the NSU Invitational.

Battling 30 degree weather and frigid wind, the Lady Reds claimed all five contests without dropping a set.

The Lady Reds' Simona Stoica and Amanda Stone each won both of their matches as they teamed for an 8-0 win at number one doubles over MSU's Ann Indeherberge and Cilia Muller.  Then Stoica downed Indeherberge 6-1, 6-1 and Stone beat Muller 6-0, 6-1.

MSU's Brynne Chappell and Collean Kinser battled Maryna Tkachenko and Emina Spirtovic before falling 8-6 at number two doubles.  NSU's Romana Jovanovicova and Nina Wenner defeated MSU's Faye d'Hamecourt and Michelle Watson 6-1.

The Mustangs are scheduled to face the other two teams in the Invitational, Arkansas Tech and Northwest Missouri State on Saturday, weather permitting.
