MSU places eighth at LSC Golf

            DALLAS, Texas - The Midwestern State University Mustangs made up one position in the final round of the Lone Star Conference Golf Championships at Bear Creek Golf Club's East Course on Tuesday, finishing the competition in eighth place.

            Battling rain, wind and cool conditions, the Mustangs tallied a 303 for the day, for a three-round total of 913.  MSU finished two strokes behind West Texas A&M at 911 in seventh and well ahead of East Central's 925 in eighth.

            Northeastern State won the team title for the third consecutive season, posting a final round 296 for a total of 867.  Central Oklahoma placed second at 884, with Texas A&M-Commerce and Abilene Christian tying for third at 901.

            MSU was paced by Hunter Linscombe, who carded one of the three 74s for the Mustangs on the day for a total of 225.  Gordon Quebodeaux also shot a 74 on Tuesday for a 227.

            Logan Scarlett shot an 82, not counted in the team scoring, for a 232, while Andrew Ludlow fired a 74 for 233 and Brady Jones posted an 81 for a 238.

            Northeastern State's Joby Dutcher fired birdies on the final two holes to card a two-under 70 for the day and win the individual title with a five-under 211.  Central Oklahoma's Mitch Boles, a leader after two rounds, shot a two-over 74 to tie with Cameron's Matt Trammel who shot a one-under 71 at four-under 212.  NSU's Kevin King finished fourth at three-under 213.
