MSU Men to Face Incarnate Word in NCAA Tournament

            WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The 29th ranked Midwestern State University Mustangs men will face 27th ranked Incarnate Word in the opening round of the 2007 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championships.

            MSU, officially 10-9 for the season, carries the number five seed and opens play in the Central 1 Regional at the South Austin Tennis Center in Austin against the fourth-seeded Cardinals (6-6) on Thursday, May 3 at 10 a.m.

            The winner plays host and top-seeded St. Edward's (10-7) on Friday, May 4 at 10 a.m.  No. 13 SEU received a bye in the first round.

            It's the 10th consecutive season that MSU has competed in the NCAA Tournament.

            MSU lost narrow matches to both schools earlier this season, as St. Ed's edged MSU 5-3 on April 13 and UIW won 5-4 on April 14.

            Both MSU and St. Ed's advanced to the Elite Eight last season.

            The Central 2 Regional at Abilene has sixth-seeded East Central (11-8) against number three seed Cameron (17-5) in the first round, with the winner facing second-seeded Abilene Christian (19-9).  ACU received a first round bye.

            The winners of both sub regionals advance on opposite sides of the bracket to the round of 16 at the NCAA Division II Championships starting May 9 through May 12 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
