Dawson Named MVP

WADSWORTH, OHIO---With 21 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, Eric Dawson was named the West All-Star Most Valuable Players as he led his team to a 120-114 win the first ever Collegiate Basketball Invitational All-Star Game, played before a live ESPNU audience.

Helping Dawson in the six-point win was Lone Star Conference foes John Davis of Tarleton St. with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Damien Lolar of West Tex. A&M chipped in 18 points. Eddie Smith of Ill.-Springfield added 17 points and Melvin Council of Robert Morris (Ill.) contributed with 10 points. Dawson also had game high in blocks, with four, and steals, with five.

Leading the way for the East was Greg Brown of Montevallo as he was named the MVP of his squad after he scored a game-high 23 points on 9-15 shooting from the field. William Carey's Jarekus Singleton added 17 points, while Tyrone Anderson of Concord pumped in 14 points and seven assists, Ricky Volcy of Northern Mich. contributed 13 points and Zack Wright of Central Mo. added 12 points and 10 rebounds
