Mustangs Beat East Central...Again

ADA, Okla. - - The Midwestern State softball team won their eighth straight game and picked up two more Lone Star Conference North Division wins as they swept their second doubleheader against the East Central (Okla.) Tigers.

 

MSU (22-8, 6-2) won the first game 4-0, led by Jessica Rodriguez and Lindsey Voigt. Rodriguez went the game 1-3 with a two run homerun in the top of the fifth. Voigt finished the game 2-2 with 1 RBI, as she connected for her fourth homerun of the season in the top of fourth. Pitcher Katie Petersen had another solid game on the mound as she pitched a three hitter and struck out 6 batters to improve her record to 11-7.

 

The Mustangs took the second game 7-4 in ten innings. Maranda Bishop went 3-5 from the plate and had two RBI's, while Amanda Hill went 2-2 and hit her second homerun in the top of the fourth. Pitcher Ashley Kuchenski started the game and went six innings, striking out two batters and allowed four earned runs. Katie Petersen pitched the final four innings, allowing no hits and striking out five batters, as she picked up her 12th win of the season.

 

Midwestern will be on the road in LSC North play when they travel to Cameron on Tuesday March 20. The two teams will play a doubleheader with game one set to start at 1:00 p.m. in Lawton.
