MSU sixth in South Central Rankings

- The Midwestern State University Mustangs fell to sixth from fourth in the latest NCAA Division II South Central Region rankings released Wednesday afternoon.

The rankings are based on play through Sunday.

It was a week that saw Southeastern Oklahoma as the only team in the previous to seven win all of its games, as Central Missouri, Northwest Missouri, Midwestern State, Emporia State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Southwestern Oklahoma suffered at least one loss.

moved into the number one spot with a 16-2 Division II only record, with
Central Missouri
dropping to number two at 15-2 in Division II.

Northwest
Missouri
State
, with a DII record of 15-4, remained third in the region, while
Tarleton
State
, who was 13-6 in Division II until Tuesday night when MSU handed them a loss, moved from eighth to fourth.

Emporia
State
(
Kan.
) stayed fifth with a 14-3 DII mark, with the Mustangs checking in sixth at 15-5 in DII after last Saturday's 89-88 loss at Angelo State.

Texas A&M-Kingsville fell to seventh (12-7 in DII only games), with

dropping to eighth at 12-6.

West Texas A&M (12-8 in DII) and

Central Oklahoma
(11-6 in DII) remained ninth and 10th.

The rankings, which are weekly until March 4, will be used to seed the NCAA Division II tournament in the South Central region and place the at-large teams after automatic bids are issued to the Lone Star Conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and the Heartland Conference.
